I am Catalina, a Colombian abstract painter. My career has been focused on painting, but I started with photography because of my father’s influence, who used to do black and white analog photography. Photography has always been present in my creative process.
Painting in general tends to be limited and not very accessible to the individual, as it cannot be replicated and this is what I like about photography, it is much more accessible because you can make a lot of copies. I like the fact of being able to democratize art and make it accessible to all types of collectors.
The collection LOS OTROS was born at the University where I teach. I was very struck by the language conveyed by the clothing and the hair of my students. I liked the back, because the back reflects the identity from all sides. For this reason I wanted to take the photographs, all are taken with the same prescriptive to reflect exactly the same, his personality.
