Rafa García is a self-taught artist from Málaga whose work merges tradition and innovation within contemporary art. His minimalist and abstract style is characterized by the free use of shapes and a color palette applied through various materials and textures, evoking the informalist movements of the 20th century. Influenced by artists such as Joan Miró, Matisse, and Antoni Tàpies, his work expressively manipulates geometric figures, inviting the viewer to explore new visual and emotional dimensions.
“Walking in Circles Searching for What Does Not Exist” speaks of nostalgia and memory, a journey through recollections that never fully return. The main theme is childhood; the works aim to create a world where time seems to fold in on itself. Each piece represents an attempt to reconstruct childhood, to cling to moments that no longer exist beyond the mind. But like in a blurry dream, the images are not exact: shapes become distorted, colors contrast, objects appear in places where they shouldn’t be. It is an invitation to question our relationship with memory and time. The search is endless, but perhaps what we seek was never truly there
