Souvenir by Alexa von Arnim

October 1 · Rivera Records · Munich

Munich was busy, the city was moving, and somewhere in the middle of it all, we found a reason to slow down.

Rivera Records welcomed photographer Alexa von Arnim to her own city to celebrate Souvenir, her travelling exhibition and the beginning of a new exhibition season.

The evening brought together photography, music, good company and a glass of prosecco poured by the Rivera Records team. With a DJ set setting the rhythm, guests had the chance to discover Alexa’s work, spend time with the artist and experience the exhibition in a more personal way, away from the usual pace of the city.

For Alexa, a souvenir is more than an object brought home from a trip. It is a fragment of a place, a feeling attached to a memory, or a small reminder of somewhere we have been.

A German-French-American photographer and visual consultant, Alexa has spent much of her life moving between cultures and places. Her nomadic upbringing shaped the way she sees the world, turning travel into a way of understanding identity, belonging and the meaning of home.

An exhibition opening can be more than a first look at the work. It can be an opportunity to meet the person behind the images, exchange ideas and share a moment with people who might otherwise have crossed paths without stopping. That was the spirit of the evening at Rivera Records. Between conversations, music and glasses of prosecco, Souvenir became not only an exhibition to discover.

Through photography, Souvenir explores these ideas, bringing together fragments of experience and the personal traces that remain after we leave a place behind. It invites us to look beyond the destination itself and consider what we choose to remember, collect and carry with us.

Alongside her independent photographic practice, Alexa works as Visual Editor of GQ Germany, navigating the intersection of image-making, fashion and contemporary visual culture.

With Souvenir, Rivera Records opens a new chapter in its exhibition programme, continuing to create space for artists, ideas and encounters that extend beyond the work itself.

The exhibition continues beyond the opening night.
